"Date Night" Ideas

posted Jun 13, 2011 12:25:21 by ChristinaUlmerMeece
With four small children, a night out on the town is very rare for my husband and me. So we "date" after the kids go to bed! One night we made a camp-fire outside and drank hot tea. Last night we played with the owls in the yard! We have little screech owls here in Boswell. My hubby downloaded some owl sounds and was playing them on his phone outside. They were literally swooping over our heads! It was fun!

Do any of you "date" at home? I'd love some fresh ideas!

What fun ideas! Good for you for making the most out of the time that you "naturally" have.

Thanks, Mrs. Fink! It definitely takes effort to make time for each other when you have kids, but it is so necessary! :)

We have the luxury of my mom living near by and she comes over for dinner once a week then watches our girls for an hour and a half. Typically, my husband and I go to Barnes & Nobles, get a yummy coffee drink and browse at books. We also try to run one simple errand since it so much easier without the girls.

Way to go carving out date time when your children are in bed! How about good ol' board games? Boggle and scramble can easily be spiced up with wagers... we often wager who has to put away the last load of laundry or something like that (though we always end up doing it together) or the loser has to make hot tea for the winner. Or even "spicer" bets since you are married.... ;)

We aren't very creative these days... we just enjoy relaxing and talking to each other wihtout little voices interupting. =)
Blessed beyond measure wife, mommy, coffee addict, boo-boo kisser, toilet scrubber & lover of the life God has given me!

My husband's not much for board-games! :) But, we've been watching "Hogan's Heroes" online. What a fun show! My husband has a very mentally challenging job, managing the Walmart vision center, so he really just likes to relax when he comes home. On the other hand, I talk to preschoolers all day and would love some mental stimulation! Guess I'll just have to find it on this blog, lol!
